Hope you got to see
the article about Penny Craver that ran in the
Observer recently. Craver, co-owner of
Dish in
Plaza-Midwood and former owner of
Tremont Music Hall in
Dilworth, is the force behind the Pearl restaurant, where Ethan's used to be. I've yet to eat at Pearl, but I love Dish. Anyone have an opinion on Pearl?

Great food...very fresh and well prepared and presented. Interior reminds me of a 300East/Ethans mix...very relaxed. Best part, seafood is wonderful and their prices are very moderate. A place that won't break the bank. Good mix for the area....before Pearl we either had Fig Tree $$$$$$ or Pub Food/Pizza $. Very little in between...Pearl fills this niche.
An excellent recommendation. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!
We haven't actually eaten there yet, but the menu looks good and reasonably priced - to make it a neighborhood regular instead of a special night out. The bartender makes a great Cosmo and they have several big comfy couches in the bar area to relax and enjoy your drink!
We STILL haven't eaten there either. But I can't wait to try it.
Was pleasantly surprised at the quality on a recent Sat night. Especially the huge diver scallops for a fair price. Unfortunately, it was pretty empty that night. Hope they make it. Too bad the bar allows smoking - it tends to drift through the restaurant.
Pearl is sad. No one eats there. The food and drinks are overpriced for the neighborhood. The seafood concept is just not a good one for the type of area we are. I hope Penny can survive but when has anyone seen more than four cars there on a given night?
