Neighborhood pictures

Maya Packard writes: "Ken Magas has set up a neighborhood account at www.kodakgallery.com for pictures from neighborhood events. Anyone with the password can view, add to, or create albums, so we can all share our photos from community events (like the Halloween party on Monday; Ken's album from that is already posted)."

If you'd like to know more about it, add a comment to this post and I'll give you the username and password. Of course if you'd like to post a picture or two you can do it right here at Under the Water Tower. It's easy and free and open to everyone. Add a comment to this post and I'll tell you how.

John, first, the blog is looking great. Second, hats off to Ken Magas, as he always finds a creative solution to any situation.

While we're a few days late, wanted to ask those dipping their toes into the blogosphere here about Halloween.

This year we had a dramatic increase in the number of trick-or-treaters at the door from last year.

Last year, we moved to Elizabeth and our house on Ridgeway a couple of weeks before Halloween. We stocked up on candy goodies, kept the porch light burning bright, and ended up eating all the candy ourselves - not one trick-or-treater showed.

This year, we put out big pumpkins, dressed up the house a bit more, put brighter bulbs in the porch light, and while the number of trick-or-treaters grew, I wouldn't call it a success.

The one little tyke that did show up was treated to an especially large, well, largess, and with four different candy bars in his booty-bag, he fist-pumped his way down the sidewalk, like he just sunk a 25-foot putt to win the U.S. Open.

My question is, what is wrong with Ridgeway? We've only lived there a year, so maybe someone can fill us in on why no ghosts or goblins? Was Ridgeway the site of a horrific all-hallow's eve tragedy? Is our street truly haunted? Anyone?

Seems to me trick-or-treating has declined steadily over the years. This year I attributed it to Halloween falling on a Monday night -- not the best night for kids or parents. Surprised to hear about Ridgeway, though. Other than that I haven't a clue. Anyone?
