So far-o, Solero

Great reviews continue to pour in for Solero, in the old Ethan's/Pearl spot on Caswell. I was there with friends recently, and I can tell you the owner is very gracious and accommodating. We had only appetizers, so I can't speak about the dinner menu. The high-profile location deserves a signature restaurant we can be proud of, as Ethan's was. I'll be going back to see if it makes it.

What have you heard about the new place beside Starbucks (on 7th)--? Looks like a cool cafe, but haven't heard when it's opening...or what the deal is with it?

i've been wondering the same thing... i've been hoping for something good to occupy that space for a while.

Word at UrbanPlanet is the owner of the new place, called Crisp, has previous restaurant experience and "will offer an upscale salad bar, soups, small pizzas and a wine/beer bar."

Great! Thanks for the info!

I did not have a good experience at Solera--So sorry--I felt like the owner hovered over us and then when we didn't order dinner (I thought the menu was so-so), he was annoyed by us. I'm glad others have as we love that we can walk to restaurants here in Elizabeth! We went to Customshop--GREAT vibe, great seafood, great wines.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Solero. I've been meaning to write about our dinner at Customshop. We loved it too.
